Labs & Bloodwork · With Paath
You track your velo.
Track your blood.
Every pitcher I know can quote their spin rate. Almost none of them can tell you their vitamin D level, and that's backwards — one of those numbers actually decides how you recover. I get comprehensive lab work as part of my training. Here's why, and how to do it without a referral or a waiting room.
My Honest Take
Test first.
Guess never.
The optimization conversation in sports has gotten loud — hormones, peptides, TRT, every podcast has a protocol. Here's the rule I hold in my own locker room: you don't touch any of that conversation until you know your numbers. Most guys chasing exotic fixes are low on sleep, magnesium, and vitamin D. That's not a protocol problem. That's a data problem.
Bloodwork rolls the whole picture — hormones, nutrition, inflammation, recovery — into one clear, guided plan written by a practitioner who read every single marker. That's the entire pitch. No guessing, no bro-science, a real doctor on the other end.

No waiting room.
01
Order & walk in
Order online, walk into any of 2,000+ LabCorp locations. The draw takes about 15 minutes.
02
A doctor reads everything
A licensed practitioner reviews all 80+ markers and writes your report in plain English — every system scored and ranked.
03
Six months of eyes on you
You get a daily plan — food, supplements, sleep, recovery — and a care team you can message in the app for 180 days.
The Care Team
Paath's clinical team is led by Dr. Alex Eppich (co-founder) and Dr. James Munro (chief medical officer) — practitioners whose careers run through sports medicine and high-performance care. That matters to me: when I ask a question about workload, recovery, or an in-season number that looks off, I'm not explaining what a throwing arm is to someone who's never worked with athletes.
The Athlete Lab Rhythm
My testing
calendar.
One draw is a snapshot. A rhythm is a trend line — and trend lines are what keep you ahead of breakdown. Here's the cadence I recommend for serious ballplayers; during heavy blocks I like eyes on my numbers every couple of months, and Paath lets you order a retest whenever your schedule calls for it.
Off-Season · Baseline
Test when you're rested and honest. This is your real baseline — the numbers every future draw gets compared against.
Pre-Season · Check the Build
After a heavy training block: did the work move your markers the right way, or are you carrying deficiencies into the season?
Mid-Season · Catch the Slide
Travel, night games, workload. This is where inflammation creeps and nutrients drain — catch it while it's a tweak, not a problem.
Post-Season · The Review
What did the season cost you? Rebuild with data instead of guessing your way through another winter.

Real Questions
Asked in
the clubhouse.
Why should a young, healthy athlete get lab work?
Because “feels fine” and “running optimally” are different things. Low vitamin D, tanked magnesium, creeping inflammation, or off-baseline hormones don't announce themselves — they just quietly cost you recovery, velocity, and durability. Testing when you're young also gives you a baseline, so when something does change later, you and your doctor can see it instead of guessing.
What about TRT and peptides? Everyone in my locker room is talking about them.
That conversation is everywhere in sports right now, and my honest take is: you have no business touching any of it before you know your actual numbers. Most guys who think they need something exotic are actually sleep-deprived, under-fueled, or missing basic nutrients. Test first, fix the fundamentals with real medical guidance, and let a licensed practitioner — not a group chat — tell you what your body genuinely needs. If you're a drug-tested athlete, that goes double: know your governing body's rules before taking anything.
How does the Paath process actually work?
You order online, walk into any LabCorp near you (2,000+ locations, ~15 minutes, no referral needed), and a licensed practitioner reads all 80+ markers against functional optimal ranges — not just the “you’re not dying” standard ranges. About 8–10 business days later you get a written report that scores every body system, plus a daily plan for food, supplements, sleep, and training recovery. Then the care team stays with you for six months in the app.
Is this medical treatment?
No — Paath is an educational functional-health program. It doesn't diagnose or treat disease, and it complements your primary care rather than replacing it. What it does is hand you and your doctors dramatically better information, explained in plain English by a practitioner who actually read every marker.
Do you actually use this?
Yes — and I'm a Paath ambassador, so I want to be straight about that relationship: if you order through my links it supports me, at no extra cost to you. I partnered with them because a real practitioner reading your labs and answering your messages is what I want my teammates using — not another app that emails you a PDF of red flags and wishes you luck.
I'm an athlete, not your doctor. Paath is an educational functional-health program — it doesn't diagnose or treat disease and works alongside your primary care, not instead of it. Drug-tested athletes: always check your governing body's rules before starting any supplement.
